Update after my first 6 weeks with ClearCam

What a whirlwind!  I just finished my 6th week as Director of Sales and things are moving quickly on the commercialization front. I am more excited now than when I joined ClearCam just a few weeks ago.

I have spent the last 6 weeks getting caught up on existing processes and helping to develop new ones, learning about successes ClearCam has experienced, as well as the challenges to date.  With fellow leadership’s help,  I’ve assessed current needs and opportunities and mapped out a path to set ClearCam up for success in the short as well as the long term.

To start off, ClearCam has had some significant “Wins” in the last few weeks:

1.       Reached the 50th case marker with Dr. McCormick at Baylor Scott and White in Temple.

2.       Several key surgeons have requested that Kelling be added to their surgical preference card.

3.       Kelling was assigned a Lawson # at Baylor Scott and White as a stocked item, opening accessibility for the entire Baylor Scott and White system.

4.       January 2022 marked the start of our commercial launch after successful clinical pilots thru 2021.

5.       Reached 90 units sold in one month, in April.  Seeing steady, viral, and incremental orders and, most importantly, reorders.

Clinical Pilots, and evaluations, at new, qualified hospitals has been the focus in the past.  These evaluations have resulted in our current success, especially in key facilities in Texas such as Ascension, Baylor Scott and White, and Methodist.  Due to that success, leadership has decided to pause evaluations in new hospitals until the end of Q3, beginning of Q4.  This will allow a shift in focus towards providing our current customers with the best possible service.

One of the more exciting tasks I have as Director of Sales is building a sales team to take care of our customers.  At the time of writing this I am in the interview process for filling ClearCam’s first Territory Manager position for the Austin/Central Texas area.  My hope is to extend an offer in the next week.  Once Austin is filled, I will pivot my focus to finding a Territory Manager for the DFW area.  These additional team members will exponentially increase ClearCam’s sales and allow us to maximize the potential in the hospitals where Kelling is already approved.  My hope is that by my next blog post I will be able to introduce the new Territory Managers and share some of the early successes they’ve had.

Finally, I’d like to leave you with a critical insight discovered through hundreds of surgeries with Kelling: Kelling has proven time and time again, to be very beneficial during Video Assisted Thoracic Surgery (VATS) procedures. The feedback from the surgeons has been overwhelmingly positive.  The same goes for OB/GYN surgeons. The number of laparoscopic surgeries that are performed by Thoracic & OB/GYN surgeons is significant and complex.  They have become our key targets. If you’re in either specialty and would like to give Kelling a try I would be happy to introduce you to it.

That is all I haveto report as of now, but I am looking forward to sharing more great news and successes in the future.
